In order to meet your cat's requirements the main bodies as well as the fabrics being used must be made of durable material.
Unlike a normal piece of furniture, cat furniture is exposed to a much higher degree of stress. It is jumped on, pounced at, etc. A cat tree must be able to withstand these dynamic forces in the long-term.
The textiles are also strained heavily. That's why I rely on high-quality and certified materials.
Peek-a-boo! During playtime,
cat furniture is exposed to high stress.
Wood panels for the cat tree: Birch-Multiplex-Layer wood
This is the probably the most sturdy and flexible type of wood available. After processing, the wood no longer "works", meaning that the measurements remain exactly the same (no swelling or shrinkage) Thanks to several thin layers of wood glued* in a criss-cross pattern and pressed afterwards, this material is nearly indestructible.
However, its price compared to other conventional carrier materials is three times as high. A high-quality and scratch-resistant HPL-coating ensures the right finish and makes the cat tree collection look modern. The coating can easily be cleaned using a damp cloth.
*This particular gluing process comprises interlacing perpendicular veneer layers.
Medium density fibre panel
Medium density fibre panel (MDF) is a wood-based material which consists of finely defibrated, mainly bark-free coniferous wood. By means of careful pressing, a completely uniform wood material is produced. The edges are smooth and firm and give the stylecats® cat trees a modern look.
Screws and Fittings
I exclusively use metal fittings for my cat furniture and completely avoid using plastic to ensure longevity and robustness.
Replacement of sisal at the trunk is made easy and fast thanks to the aluminium sleeve.
The sisal is glued to a 2mm thick hard-PVC-sleeve. Thus the replacement of individual parts is easily and quickly done. On the other hand the sisal construction is most durable thanks to the PVC-substructure.
100% natural sisal for more fun and a delicate look.
The sisal used is 100% natural and has a delicate structure. The use of this? It looks more delicate and provides more fun for the cats.
I apply a durable microfibre sandwich technique: a special foam layer provides ideal cushioning for the cat. The bottom side of the top layer is made of velours, for durability and to retain the warmth of the cat.
High durability, comfortable cushioning and storage of the emitted body warmth - our microfibre will convince you.
Mountain Sheep Wool
In order to manufacture our stylecats® beds we use mountain sheep wool, as it provides optimum temperature management due to its unique molecular structure. During hair growth, the glands produce Lanolin, a body fat enveloping the hairs and binding them so that no humidity can reach the skin. The sheep wool has a cleansing effect, is naturally dirt-repellant and antibacterial and is also very elastic.
The reason for this is that the interior of the woollen hair consists of two separate fibres slightly entwined around each other, but are different in regard to their water absorption. One of the cell types absorbs more than the other, and as they are connected securely, they constantly remain in motion. This is the "bimetal effect".
